I cannot believe they just dropped her. She is such a cutie. It is such a shame that the scientists all had just left after they were done testing. I feel bad for the girl.

It is amazing how she started learning like a child so fast, it seemed pretty rapid. Babies take more time to function like a normal person, but Genie seemed to catch on quicker. Maybe we develop naturally but with the help of interaction, as humans, we develop in a greater way.

Very interesting case, I cannot wait to study it in depth in January.

p.s-- the 70's were a funny time for research. It seemed that scientists could do whatever they wanted. Sometimes, I wish we could still do that.. but it is sometimes shady.

Rachael,

I completely agree. It is tragic that she was abandoned. As you will see, she makes some significant advances developmentally but once her development slows, so does the funding. It is sad that they didn't see that she needed to be cared for and loved more than she needed to be studied.

Ha! Yes, we will see even more research from the 1970s that is shady. Maybe the best decade for this was the 1950s! Scary stuff was done.
