DISGUSTING..........im glad nobody looks like an exact copy of a barbie........im still grasping on aneroxia, i just dont get what goes on in their mind to make them say that they are fat........it kind of disturbs and confused me
We will try to unlock some of that tomorrow. Remember that it is a distortion in perception. Those suffering with this disorder don't see themselves the way others do. Keep in mind that they may just focus on one part of their body and accept the other parts as being fine.
Often following therapy, which can take years, many correct their perceptions.
I'm watching the Nova video right now. I can't believe bodies can survive at 80-something pounds, or even less!
I know that it's all about a distorted body image, and that they see themselves as fat and all, but I don't understand the girls who want to look like that in order to be more attractive when there are guys all around saying that that's not an attractive look. It's just so... wrong.
It is truly irrational thinking and difficult to try and make sense of. Keep in mind that after therapy, many of the girls see the errors in their thinking. But, it tends to be a long-term if not life-long struggle.
unfortunately i can't see the images of the life size barbie, but i've always heard people say it's impossible for someone to look like that. i want to suggest an anonymous tool from the center for eating disorders for any readers that may be wondering if they have an ED. sometimes people just think they're "dieting" but are really taking it too far. www.eatingdisorder.org/about_eating_disorders/resources/quiz.php. thanks for helping manage realistic body images.
Thank you for your feedback, Mr. Caro. I'm glad the assessment is serving to be a helpful tool. Unfortunately it looks as if the hotlink was cut off during both your and my post. To solve this problem, I'd like to direct your online viewers to Google "Center for Eating Disorders at Sheppard Pratt", then go through the homepage which features a link to the online assessment. If anyone is having difficulty getting to the quiz, let me know. Thanks.

The site is very informative!
I am unable to retrace the image. Not sure what happened to it.
