The Introduction

Reminders:
The Introduction to the IA is DUE Monday
The Introduction is about the original study (see the Reader for the orginal studies in the Internal Assessment chapter)
The "AIM" is your last paragraph and should state that your aim is to partially replicate....
SEE the IA Center on mrcaro.com for the details!
Cheers!

Hey Caro
So I'm a little confused with the introduction.
So it has to have everything from the paper you handed out to us right?
But how long is this supposed to be?
And it says the aim is the last paragraph of introduction... I don't understand what that is exactly.

Hope you're having a great Thanksgiving!

Hey Olivia!

Yes, the handout reveals everything that MUST be in the introduction. The first paragraph is about the topic in psychology, so for most people it is about memory and the constructivist view of memory first offered by Bartlett.

The second paragraph is all about the original study: its hypothesis, methods, results (means), and significance of the findings (from the Discussion section). This is the largest paragraph of the three for the Introduction.

The last/third paragraph for the introduction is your "aim". The aim is simply stating the purpose of your IA. So for example, it might be worded something like this to start, "The present study's aim is to partially replicate (Loftus or Roediger or Stroop)'s findings where it was found that ... (insert their hypothesis).

If you need some samples, the sample in the Reader is extremely well done.

I hope this helps!!!

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Cheers
Caro

Hey Caro, quick question. What year did Loftus do experiment 4, was it 1975?

Also, what year was Roediger and McDermott's study? I doesn't say on the write up they did, in the reader.

Micah,

The Loftus and Palmer study was done in 1974. Roediger's study is 1995.
